I am looking for something to carry my camera gear in that is waterproof. I sold my Pelican 1450 as part of the camera package deal.

Right now I am thinking either the Lowepro DryZone 200 or the Lowepro Omni Trekker convertible backpack that fits inside a Pelican case.

I get into some pretty extreme environments and need the waterproofing. But, I also want something that is functional. I like the idea of the Dryzone. I also like the Omni Trekker but to use it as abackpack you have to take it out of the case.

I did some searching here and google and Lowpro keeps coming to the top of the list. I am not intersted in a bag the partially wraps a backpack as that is not waterproof enough.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Well assuming that those extreme conditions are not ALL the time, you could always get a bag that fits the majority of your needs, like the Lowepro's, and then put that bag inside of a dry bag like this:

for those occasions where you need waterproofing. The first is only $15 at REI (http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?noalias=1&stat=7889&langId=-1&query=dry+not+top+not+short+not+pacific&y=0&cat=4500009&x=0&orig=dry+bag&storeId=8000&vcat=REI_SEARCH) the second is $70.

Not a bad idea, but my conditions are the exact opposite. I am a firefighter, and a diver so the extreme conditions are more often. Getting stuff into and out of those bags is a pain. I know because I use one like the first one as my gym bag for the pool.

I cn get called out any time of the day in any weather condition. So my preference is something that can be ready all the time.

I may go with the Dryzone and get a pelican to fit it. I will have a few weeks to research it. I got the insurance bill from my CT scan today. I will have to pay that off before getting a bag or case.

After reading up a bit more and considering my need for something that is at the ready all the time I have decided to go with the Lowepro DryZone 200.

I went ahead and put it on order from B&H.

I got the DryZone 200 today. Is anyone else interested in a review? I can put one together if you are interested.

So far I can tell you that this thing is unreal.

I realize this thread is pretty old...

Did you ever post the review?

I am looking for the same king of bag for transporting camera and accessories while Kayaking. Would be very interested in hearing/reading your review.
