Eagle's Nest - Live Webcam!!!

Just opened up an e-mail from the National Wildlife Federation with a link to a live webcame of an Eagle's Nest. Thought you might be interested. I saw mama eagle hunkered down on eggs. I don't know much about eagles...could it have been papa eagle??? Requires Windows Media 9 or above.

Well, I just read that the male and female bald eagles look alike except that the female is larger (and tougher, we know!). The shots are amazing. This morning the webcam has zoomed in closer. 24 days until eggs hatch. Should be interesting...

F.Y.I. Eggs have hatched and baby eaglets are here. I haven't viewed them yet (I keep forgetting to check in!) but thought some of you might like to watch their progress.

I don't know if folks have been checking in on this webcam, but it's getting really interesting now. There are three chicks in the nest, and they're growing up quickly. I just watched the adult (mom?) take off leaving the chicks in the nest and bring back some food which looked like entrails from some animal. She proceeded to rip off hunks and feed them to the hungry chicks. At times a chick would stand up and flap it's wings to keep balance. I was amazed at how big they were are when stretched out. So cute!!!

I was trying desperately to grab screen shots. However, for some reason I could not grab screen shots from Windows Media Player. The website also grabs screen shots, but only at 30 second intervals. I did save a couple of the 30-second screen capture images from their site. They're not nearly as good as what I was able to witness on the cam.

They're still feeding even as I type this. So check it out if you can.
The webcam can be a bit frustrating. I only get about 20 seconds worth before it stops and you have to press the play button again. I think they have a time limit set for bandwidth sharing. Still, I think this is an amazing thing, and I'm really enjoying it.

Its another eagles nest live cam... but this one is practically right on top of the nest.. looking down into it so you get a really nice view!

two unhatched eggs...

not much action at this stage... momma or daddy sittin on the eggs mostly... every once in a while gets up to stretch and move the eggs around.

I keep forgetting to visit this myself!! I saw both parents in the nest with babies a few days ago and some carion laying aside the nest. Your connection is much better than mine, Joel! Thanks for posting these and reminding me as well as others....it really is a neat site!
