Hey everyone....

As some of you may remember, I just turned 25 on Friday :) :clap

anyway... among other things... I got $80 in cash... I want to get something to help me in my photography pursuement (i think that's a word) and could use some advice.

I am currently shooting with a Sony 717, but plan on moving onto the DSLR stage within about 2 months....

so... What should I get?

Here is a link to my site, if you want, http://wanderingthroughlife.smugmug.com

I mostly enjoy doing portraits and people. Headshots and or couple shots/engagement, stuff like that.

What should I get? If it goes a bit over the amount, that's fine, i just need to know, what's going to bennefit me the most, now and in the future :)

Thanks,

Steven

Polariser. The colour it can draw out of stuff is amazing.

Set it aside. It might be wiser to spend this when you have your DSLR in two months or so, then now. And if you spend it now, make sure it's on something you can use after you've got your DSLR.

The arrival of a DSLR soon 'eh ?

Wise words marloff...they are a money pit when you are starting out re cleaning gear etc etc.

And when you get your dslr, get EF 50mm f/1.8 II. One of the best price/performance choices in this budget range..

But what thread size? That depends on the lens he winds up getting. And unlike the 7x7, he will have to get a circular polarizer. You can get away with linear on the 7x7, but not an SLR.

So like marlof, I would suggest putting that money in the camera fund for now :-)

You're going to need it! bwahahahaha :evil

pffft... save your money until you get your DSLR. dont buy anything until you finally get it, then research, save some more and do some more research. dont just listen to what we say! :P

but if you're looking into buying something worthwhile, maybe look around for a new bag for your new toys. You'd hate to get a new camera and not have a bag to store it in! Putting it back inside the box? pfffffft, you didnt open it to put it back in!

hah, but hey if you have any Sony cybershot accessories you're willing to part out, PM me (like a remote shutter! rmdr1 or rmvd1!). I still shoot with a F828. :thumb

By the looks of your gallery, looks like you've learned alot by using the Sony. pshh, you're gonna' whoop some ace with the newer heavier machinery!
