Way to go Cletus!!! I have to say, that D70 is such a great camera. After all the Canon's I had, and even after my D2H, when my own used/mint D70 arrived in the mail just a few weeks ago, I was impressed with it. Still am. Just feels so solid and well thought out. Doesn't hurt that the image quality is great too.
Does this mean you might actually post a photo or two? :lol3

I was originally going to buy the 5D, 50 f/1.4 and 70-200 f/2.8L.
Then I thought.. hmm, do I just WANT the 5D or do I /need/ the 5D? There's an explicit difference. So I said, okay, no 5D, instead, I'll get the 20D, 17-40 f/4L, 50 f/1.4 and the 70-200 f/2.8L. But then I realiased, I don't EVER shoot wide angle and don't prefer to shoot landscapes... so why not scrap the 50 and 17-40 and just get the 24-70 f/2.8L, one of Canon's best lenses.
So for $1000 less I got the 20D, 4gb CF, the 24-70 f/2.8L and the 70-200 f/2.8L with protective filters. I figure the lenses are an investment for life if I stick with the Canon lineup and don't turn into an elitist fashion Mamiya shooter, and the body is temporary until I can justify - as a working professional - a higher end model. I didn't want to wait for the 30D, because I couldn't see any signifigant difference, so I saved some cash and got a mint, tried, tested and true highly successful body that will serve my purpose tremendously.

keep in mind that 50mm f/1.8 is less than a hundred $. And f/1.8 is not THAT different from f/1.4 speedwise...:-)
I'd say you have a fabulos choice of lenses :thumb
