Never seen THIS breed before. Stocky little things, aren't they? I bet they pulled many a plow before internal combustion made its debut.

You anywhere near Hallock?

the breed is about 4000 years old, and developed in norway. they were bred small and efficient, since the area was very cold, and food was sparse. they lived in the basement of the homes, and their warmth helped keep the people warm. they are very much people oriented horses, and are smaller than they look in the photos....i have one in my pasture, and he's a real charmer.

i am not near hallock, but hubby is from there (warren area) :)

Very cute little guys. They all look alike too. Must make for a neat show. Good luck with the shoot.

Thanks for putting them up, I had never heard of the breed either, but they are beautiful. From the pictures it looks as though they can do anything. Thanks for sharing, and don't worry you will do an outstanding job at the dances.
