just got kelby's photoshop channels book in from amazon-
for those of you familiar with his ps cs2 book for digital photographers, it is pretty much in the same format, with easy-to-use step-by-step instructions-
he has chapters on channel basics, masking using channels, from color to bw, sharpening with channels, special effects using channels, and a few more-
one chapter is called channels and better colors, which includes some of dan margulis' work with lab color-
the example I include here was done in just about a minute using the lab channels (with which a lot of you are familiar with from the laborious and labyrinthine work done by the margulis book readers)-
this is untouched jpeg:http://gefillmore.smugmug.com/photos/57572798-L.jpg

here I used kelby's lab color/channel instructions which did not take any more than a minute:

I have a few of his other books, they're my kind of simple. I'm keen to see what you learn about channels that is truly useful stuff.

hey humungus, I seriously am becoming out of it-
I take a sleeping pill about this time at night and I really shouldn't be on here-
anyway, I moved my response because I wanted to get the example with the three photos on one page-
sorry if I offended you-I can be a smartass at times-

George, I can only see your first and last piccies, none of the other examples show up. I've tried cutting and pasting the urls into Firebird and Explorer, no go. Do you have sharing turned on in whatever gallery you've stashed these?

Maybe I can put it this way, would you rather
1) buy Sensor cleaning stuff and clean your sensor
2) buy this book
3) have a root canal when your tooth is killing you (a thing only the root canal can fix)
4) buy a novel, hope it is good and forget the world.........nah, scratch this one, it is a given!

ginger-
1) yes--clean your own sensor- 35-50
2) buy the book- 30
3) pliers for tooth self-extraction- 10
4) good paperback novel- 10
seriously, sorry about the tooth--
never had the honor of a root canal-
hope I never do-
is your husband retired?-
if he is, sounds like he needs to go back to work to feed your photo habit-
then again, as good as you are getting at it, you could find a way to make some money in photography-
