Cute! I love the pose. The many catch lights in his gorgeous eyes are a bit distracting for me, but otherwise I really like it!

I think that you may have just over-sharpened the picture. Tone that down a bit in future shots. I usually get carried away with the tools too.
I also wouldn't mind if you could just get super close. Just the crayons, the big innocent eyes and some of the hair might work good. Try, experiment, he's a very cute boy.
