***SOLD***

Includes everything: box, case, hood, caps, tripod collar. It is in excellent condition, some very minor scuffs on the body from normal use and some tape marks (not residue, just some marks) where the previous owner (a good FM'er) taped over the sigma logo.
:dunno

Note: This is the "older" non-DG version of this lens. No difference in elements or internal design, only in the coatings. This lens focuses fast on my D2H.

price drop 2.19.06, again 2.22.06:
$525 shipped and paypalled

These are the tape marks on the hood - from where the Sigma logo was taped over, probably with electrical tape. Again, no sticky residue, just some leftover marks. :dunno

Sounds like gibberish to me.

Why the hell can't this lens be Canon? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I'll drop the price to $535 - that's as low as I can go to get what I need and cover shipping/paypal fees.

Just a lttle bump with some additional input:

The Sigma EX series are the top of the Sigma line. The lens comes standard with hood, caps, tripod ring and case. The tripod ring alone is one of the best designs I've seen, and it makes rotating the tripod-mounted lens/camera a snap for portraits and scenics.

HSM motor technology is very similar to Canon's USM, fast and quiet.

PhotoDO gives this lens very high marks indeed (3.9):

http://www.photodo.com/prod/lens/sigma.shtml#Sigma

This lens is in a class close to Canon "L" and Nikkor "ED" lenses, and the price is very attractive.

DoctorIt is a trusted member and moderator of these DGrin forums, and I would trust him to take superb care of his equipment.

If you're needing a quality lens in this range, with a Nikon mount, now's your chance.

Thanks Ziggy!

What I don't understand is the huge discrapancy between Nikon and Canon versions of this glass. Daniel has pointed this out before, but over on FM, at my current price I'm getting lowballed left and right, while Canon-mounts are selling for $600!

John,

Explain to your DW that this is a great lens for interior wedding work. Church stuff and reception candids are so much easier when you can gain a little distance and use ambient light.

If you have kids, this makes a great night and indoor sports lens. Large constant f-stop yields more keepers by allowing a faster shutter speed.

Show her the price of the equivalent Nikkor lens:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=274780&is=USA&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

... and explain that this lens, from Doctor It, will allow you, her, and the checking account much more happiness.
