One of the regulars in another forum I frequent is Ray Kinnane, an Australian living in the South of Japan. He's an ex pro photographer, that now just takes pictures as a hobby. His posts usually gave a wonderful insight in life in Japan. Recently Ray started of with Roarfish (http://www.roarfish.com/), a blog exisiting of two parts: the main part exists of essays on life Japan, combining images and text. Then there's Sashimi Bytes (http://roarfish.blogs.com/sashimibytes/), where the images are updated more regularly (almost once every two days), but accomponied with less text. If you want you can use an RSS feed (for Roarfish (http://www.roarfish.com/index.rdf) or Sashimi Bytes (http://roarfish.blogs.com/sashimibytes/index.rdf)) to keep up to date. If you'd like to see more about life in Japan, this site comes recommended.
mate i cant see roarfish from your 1st link....just an advertising type page & the 2nd one (roarfish & sashimi ) wants me to download a file..is this correct ?

Sorry Gus, had a typo in the first link. All is fine now. The second link should work fine too.
The last two are links to .rdf feeds, that you can use if you use a RSS feedreader.

I spent some time in Japan in the earlier part of my life, and the vending machines were certainly something that I will never forget. This gentleman has a very unique perspective on life in Japan.
Thanks for sharing the links :thumb

I never was in Japan, but the Japanese society fascinates me a lot. Somehow someday I'll be there.

Excellent site, thanks for the link, marlof. :thumb He does indeed make some nice shots. And it's so interesting to get his take on Japan, a country I've never visited.

What a place. Hard to imagine snow like that. I have a friend that is engaged to a japanese lady & he is going over there to live shortly...he tells me about their customs all day. I nearly went there in '04 but picked NY instead as the cost of accom was through the roof.
We are currently aiming at india for our next trip & i think i will have to include a bit of a stopover in japan.
