My initial reaction was.....very cool. What I like is you have a main focus - the hands holding the "nuts?" And the depth of field is great with the wonderful green grass in the background.

What I don't like about the composition is the face and torso of the person. It's dark, and doesn't help the story. I'd rather see a crop with just the hands, the "nuts", and the grass. That makes the story say...this could be anyone...and the imagination comes in.

But the more I look at it, the more I love the hands with the grass. It's like she's in prayer or thankful to the earth for it's bounty or something. Good use of the bright sunlight too.

So besides the crop...I don't have anything else to add. Good job and I'm very jealous you have a Rebel XT. I'm saving up for one....I hoping to have enough funds by 2011.

I think it could use a more aggressive crop. The empty space on the right doesn't really add anything, and if removed would put the hand more on the bottom right (rule of thirds). The hands may be slightly overexposed. It almost seems like the focus point is on the right wrist rather than the hands. Are those acorns or something else? Overall, the pic doesn't really tell me much. Is there something special about the hands' contents? I'm not sure it's coming through.
