First time really having a chance to use all of my new lights for some portrait work.

These 2 photos will be ready as a gift for her tomorrow (obviously without my cheezy company border)

Mistakes: I shot these between f/1.8 and f/2.8 . I had enough light to get away with 3.5 or 4. I should've.

The lack of DOF didn't help so much with the post processing, because I didn't quite nail the focus on a few of the better shots.

The latest shot of my studio setup:

Wow! Great photos and a lovely model with those luminescent blue eyes.

Minor critiques: It might be my monitor, but the highlights on the left side of her face seem a bit blown out in all the pix, especially in #2. The depth of field in pic #2 seems off as well, with her chin in focus but the die around her neck heavily blurred. Finally, I would have liked a little more light reflected on the right side of her face in all three photos.

Definitely a keeper as a model, and thanks for sharing photos with us.

Cheers,
Scott

Yup. Exactly my thoughts after I finished with the photos. There's some rule about the "dark" side of a portrait's face to be 1/3 less light than the other. I've got those notes around here somewhere. I really should study them again.

That's what I get for:

A) not owning or using a light meter (or checking my histogram)
B) shooting at f/1.8-2.8 at close range.

Thanks for the look!
