I got this call out of the blue yesterday, from a British PR/advertising firm. They are handling the PR for the release of the computer game, Sid Meyer's Civizilation II for the Nokia N-Gage gammer's phone. Part of the publicity is to send out "property listings" to the journalists who cover such things. He somehow found a shot of mine that would be perfect for one of these. He guesses that 100 or so of these will go out:

I had no idea what to ask. I let him price it and got $160, which I suspect is very low given that he had already made up the flyer. At this point I'm happy just to get my name out a little.

Based on how many times you've shot The Watch Factory, I'd say that they probably can't afford to purchase this image :lol3

That said, here's a good link for you:

So, for the future, or for anyone who has a similar situation:

Find out how many pieces they expect to make, what the distribution is, how much does the game sell for, expected revenues on this product, who's the buyer, game mfgr or Nokia? Nokia has VERY deep pockets, don't leave anything on the table.

Finally, if you don't have Pricing Photography (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1097113), get it. Today.

I hope this helps, congrats, Rutt! :thumb

So based on that link and on the fact that they are only planning to send about 100 of these out, I'd say I got a fair price. I guess I might have gotten twice as much with a little bargaining since he had already put some work into it.

Maybe there is something I'm missing about supply and demand here?

I was just funnin' with you, I know it's a favorite spot of yours - and I've enjoyed all the WF threads - basically I was saying, with that amount of time put in, they should probably pay you $25,000 :D

I had a better idea of how to accomplish the same goal. (But as you can see, it would be cheap to get it back.)
