Yea, yea squirrels. These are some of the first I took using the 1.4 TC on the 70-200 f4. Not as sharp as some, but I have a harder time hand holding with the TC:dunno Thanks for looking any help (critique) always welcome.
These sibs were funny. The one on top kept smashing the other one down to do some serious grooming. The groomie did some serious grumpin:D

This was sort of a mess with the back lighting (that is what you call it right?) Set +ev like Harry said for raptors, not enough obviously.

A Don shot. Amost looks like he posed the squirrel. Could use cropping but it has HIS conifers in it so didn't.

I love squirrels, they're over-the-top cute. My boyfriend chastises me because he says they're tree rats, but I just punch him and move on. :beatwax

I am not crazy about squirrels, per se. As with most things, I have photographed them when they and I have shared the same visual space, and I was bored.
But I LOVE your shots! You have made squirrels interesting!
(I had trouble hand holding that lens at first. I have had it almost a year and it is much better now. It was harder for me than the 400 mm, either that, or my experience with it made learning the 400 easier.)

Yes they can get cold if the temps take a real drop before they (sqs) have molted. The guy in #2 is just 'fluffed' since the air space from the 'fluff' increases the insulation of the fur.
Glad you enjoyed Shannon, thanks.

Thank you Ginger and good to know there is hope for me and that lens.
I would really like to work shooting birds, branch out a bit (ok a lot) but I won't go out to the lake w/o Don and he gets home too late. Maybe Thursday, sun and he is off.
