Imagine my surprise yesterday when I actually bothered to open my door to see that it was 60 degrees and the sun was out! Yes, the sun, that fabled glowing orb I heard about in my youth that seemed to have disappeared finally decided to shine on the mtns. of NC.

Needless to say, I grabbed my equipment and was out the door.

Went South on the Parkway and decided to roam Price Park for a while. Haven't been on those trails in years. Being a pisces, I suppose it is my nature to wander toward the sound of water.

Naturally, I followed the creek and found some more delectible spots to photograph. This poor leaf seemed stranded, so I thought I would share its plight with you.

After my meandering, I decided to hop in the car and hike up Rough Ridge.....what a hike. This is one of the more difficult trails in good dry weather.....throw in mud and ice and it gets downright treacherous, but I hiked on....and decided to sit a spell about 4/5 of the way up.

This shot isn't particularly fantastic, would be better during a time when the trees aren't brown :wxwax but what the heck.

After catching my breath and enjoying the peace and quite at the top, I hiked back down (took me about 35 minutes, I wonder how long it took to go up :huh ) and headed back to Price Lake.

As I sat in the car, waiting for the sun to get lower in the sky, I realized I was going to get a great opportunity for a magnificent sunset. However, I broke a cardinal rule and forgot my x-tra batteries. Not even 15 seconds after the batteries died, the sky caught fire with purple, magenta, and fuschia :cry

But I managed to get this one before. I think I'm going to go back out this afternoon to see if I can get a 2nd chance.

Well, thanks for sharing my lil' adventure with me. As always, comments/critiques are always welcome.

DF, the 2nd one is my favorite although I must say that I didn't notice the leaf until I read your description. It doesn't seem to be the focus of attention to me, what grabbed me was the mercury quality of the water and the great sky colors reflected in it. :thumb

Glad you got out for a nice day of shooting -

LOL, I wish I had a quarter for everytime I disappear from dgrin and come back with some pictures.....ok, well maybe that would only add up to about $1.25 :uhoh but you get the point.

To all: thanks for the feedback. I went back out tonight to try and capture that sunset.....haven't looked at the results yet, maybe I'll get a chance to tomorrow evening.
