Just wanted to share one of my favorite sites. The Library of Congress' American Memory (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/)
There are tons of photographs, old advertisements, pre-WWI baseball cards, panoramic maps, old sheet music, civil war maps, it's just endless.
Here's one (http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/S?ammem/gmd:@FILREQ(@field(SUBJ+@od1(Cortland++N+Y++--Aerial+views+))+@FIELD(COLLID+pmmap))) that Andy might like.
I have two huge maps on my wall at work. Both are panoramic maps, one of NYC from 1856 (http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/map_item.pl?data=/home/www/data/gmd/gmd380/g3804/g3804n/pm005945.sid&style=pmmap&itemLink=D?gmd:9:./temp/~ammem_GWiG::&title=City%20of%20New%20York%20%2f%20sketched%20an d%20drawn%20on%20stone%20by%20C.%20Parsons.) (looking north up manhattan from the harbor) and the other is of downtown LA from 1891. (http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?gmd:4:./temp/~ammem_RTFJ::)
They have panoramic maps of Boston from 1870-1905. (I like the pano maps!)
They have movies of turn of the century NYC (http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?papr:1:./temp/~ammem_JAPj::).
A collection of daguerreotypes (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/daghtml/dagpres.html), too.
Panoramic Photos (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/panoramic_photo/)
Downloads are free, although some are compressed with...it's a long story, not worth going into here.
