Yeah I use FlashGot (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=220&application=firefox) all the time, but I really dig my Abe Vigoda Status (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Humor&numpg=10&id=451) addon :deal I'm comforted by knowing that I'll know the minute he assumes room temperature :lol3

Interesting. I don't use Firefox much, since Safari syncs my bookmarks across my systems. AND it has google and dictionary built in. The FlashGot thing I don't understand yet...need to look into that.

Andy,

How exactly do you actually use FlashGot? What's it do for you?

I looked it up and was reminded once again that I'm a dunce. I didn't understand anything I read. Nearest I can figure it helps you download stuff from links - but you'd have to download a lot to need help. :dunno

When you have a page full of links, it will dowload them all at once. Very useful.

Open, or literally download to your computer? I don't download links too much...I bookmark 'em...

Adblock and Flashblock are wonderful, especially for sites that you visit often. You can easily see Flash animations when you want to by clicking on the logo on the page. By default they are blocked. Adblock gets better and better as you add more URLs to block, but it helps to understand wildcard syntax to really get the most out of it.

If you're surfing pr0n and you have a page full of primo stuff you can download all of the pics at once.

Not that I'd know of course...

syntax schmyntax... Get the filterset.g (http://www.pierceive.com/) updater and let others find the best blocks for you!

file 100.jpg

FlashGot will grab em all at once, and put them where I tell 'em to..

Seriously we do.

Anywhoooo....

Okay now for a list of my favorite firefox extensions (the daily use ones).

Webdeveloper - duh! (linked above)
ColorZilla (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Developer%20Tools&id=271) - I use it to get a quick idea of what the element and associated classes and id's are. Not as much for colors actually.
Open IE in Tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=1419) - Have to use IE but hate to actually open IE? Well just open an IE session right in a firefox tab!
session saver (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=436&application=firefox) - Firefox crash? Windows crash? Gotta close firefox to install an extension or something? Never fear, session saver automagically saves all of your tabs, the back button history, anything that was in a textbox and more no matter what happens. Saved my bacon more than a few times.
del.icio.us (http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extension) - lets you link to del.icio.us in a popup window so as to not disturb the browsing experience. Nice!
LastTab (http://timothyhumphrey.name/firefox/) - Why oh why didn't firefox make it so your tabs would focus like windows tabs do - in the most recently used order rather than from left to right? LastTab is one of those extensions that keeps firefox from being uninstalled from my machine. Now with improvement goodness!
HTML Tidy (http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/) - How do I see html errors so quickly? Superhuman wit? Uh no. Uncanny understanding of xhtml? Nope. Those force bug thingies from Episode I? Huh uh. HTML Tidy highlights errors for me. It'll even tidy up my code and fix those easy to miss errors on pages that I write. Secret's out!
Adblock - duh (linked above.)
Filterset.g - You got filterset in my adblock. You got adblock in my filterset. Adblock without filterset is like Andy without pr0n. Lonely and impotent. (linked above)

Foxmarks (http://www.foxcloud.com/wiki/Main_Page) :thumb

Foxmarks is an extension for Firefox that synchronizes bookmarks across multiple machines.

I wonder if it will sync PC/Mac FF bookmarks, anyone who can test this out. :ear

Wow, no one has mentioned Greasemonkey (http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/) yet. You can download all kinds of scripts (http://userscripts.org/) which do useful (and not so useful) things.

I got it just for the Gmail Smart-Delete Button. But I also like the eBay hack to show only negative feedback.

Other than that, Adblock and Flashblock are my favorites. I also use PDF Download. All previously mentioned.

Thought I might resurrect this thread with a couple of things I have been using for quite some time.

(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=nosquint&cat=all)NoSquint (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592) is very handy if you are using a laptop with a high resolution screen. It will resize fonts for you on a site specific basis and remember any adjustments you make. So every time I go to a given site it will be displayed in whatever size is best for me. Highly configurable for geeks, but completely painless for everyone else.

Back to Top (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/658) is a simple little thing that adds options to the right-click menu to jump to the top or bottom of a page. Convenient at times. Some people have reported problems with it, but it has never given me any.

Oh, and Abe Vigoda is still alive.

My favorites...

IETab - Internet Explorer Emulation in Firefox
Down Load Them All - I like it better than FlashGot. Easier to use but same idea
Linky - Converts links to qualified links also allows for the opening of all the links on a page...
Link Checker - Checks links on pages to validate them
Pic Lens - A better browser of Google Images (watch out I might add it as a feature request)
Proxy Toolbar - I have to change my Proxy when I am traveling or in the office
Google Toolbar - for keeping my links synchronized across multiple computers and OS'es.

Chatzilla - I guess it's an Extension, not a plugin. Great little IRC client though.

Fxif - right click an image, click Properties, and get Exif info, if embedded. (Curiously, SM images do not have it.)

and I'll cast another vote for FireFTP.
