Happy New Year all!

I hope you are all having better weather than we are up here. Rain, rain, rain and now snow. Oh yeah - lots of clouds and very little sun :(

Was able to get out and capture this guy late last week. Lightings a bit harsh and I wish it was a natural perch. Interesting looking birds though. They look like a generic perching bird from a distance, but looking at the beak you can see that they are a predatory species. For more info on the species look here- http://www.birds.cornell.edu/programs/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Loggerhead_Shrike.html

I agree about the perch, but everything else is excellent! Love the catchlight, too. :thumb

Thank you for your comments Jeff, Greaper, Ben, Thusie and JC.

Sorry Jeff I dont know about the age. They aren't very common around here either. First one I've ever seen. He could have been 7in in length.

Interesting bird. And you can tell about their predatory habits from the talons too.... Nice capture.
