This is a nice series of shots. They capture the feel of the place. I especially like the perspective down the staircase.

They certainly knew how to build them in 1665!

Interesting architecture. I wonder if the portion on the right was an addition? It has a hipped roof and the other is gabled. Interesting placement of the front door as well. Nice pictures.

You nailed the Hitchcock staircase shot. Perfect, like "Vertigo." Personally, I like the chair in front of the window. Kinda lonely and sad.

yes, the portion on the right was an addition by a later owner. the original house is the part on the left. you can see in the brick work the location of the original door.

it's a really neat place. It's located on RT 10 along the James River about 45 minutes east from Richmond. It's just past Surry, VA. My wife and I have been driving past it and kept saying we were going to stop one day. We finally made the trip.
