Is it just me? I never use the emoticons on this site because I don't like them. Especially :wink That's not a friendly wink, but a lecherous, sneaky, devilish wink. Not what I mean when I wink.
Anyway, just a personal note. I don't like them.

Over there threads constantly break out about adding new ones and they even design their own to add.
Dunno what the difference is but if you see some on the net you like and want to add, we can do. We usually have someone second the motion so the site doesn't get too full of smileys only one person likes.

even on text-based boards like dpreview - it's crucial to convey the meaning of something.
and, here, with the graphical smilies, it makes it a bit o fun.
gotta run, over here in london it's 5pm, and that means :slurp

I have a basic aversion to animated smilies. They are cloying, cheesy and annoying. They also waste my time. I know I don't have to look, but it takes seconds from my life to watch Andy's emoticon drink a pint. OK, that's going too far, perhaps, but I still don't like them.
I'll just stick with what I know. ;)
Hope that makes you all happy :)
Don't want to bring you down :(

Yep. Guilty as charged. I still have an aversion to :rofl and :clap , they're just too animated. You'll notice that I really only use the slightly animated, like maybe an :uhoh or a :crazy.

Oh, and BTW, Rutt. I have the right to change my mind. You sold your right to change your avatar ad for $5. Sold, gone, no longer yours.
Just thought I'd mention that....
