Sid, great shot - congrats, it was my pick too! :thumb
21 entries, 37 voters... we're not improving much, are we? This may not be the place to voice this, but anyone else notice this? A friend of mine joined a couple weeks ago and has kinda given up - "kinda clique-ey, eh?", she said...

Now you're being way too kind, Ginger, although I certainly appreciate it. Help yourself to the Original. Here it is.

Thanks guys, I very much appreciate your posts.
Truth is, I don't feel like my shot was the best one (I suspect others might agree! :evil)
The quality and depth of submissions for this challenge is the best of any we've had so far. It's unfortunate that some great photos didn't get many votes, and it makes me feel bad for the shooters. There's some really, really nice photography here.
Truth to tell, your skill may be intimidating newcomers and inhibiting them from making submissions! You are that good, now. Wow.

I told someone else that I was happy to get the votes I did. There were at least 3 or 4 shots, equally good, IMO, in the finals. Unfortunate that each was in the same challenge. When that kind of thing happens, the vote gets split. However, Sid, your shot had something the others didn't..............just took it over the edge.
I don't know why you don't appreciate it as much as I think you should. Maybe it is in the technicality. To phrase it different, that was a mere technicality. Everything, by accident, or whatever, came together to work for that shot. The lighting, the position of the child, the fact that she looked like "everybody's child". Even the separation from the rest of the field made the child stand out. Stealing that base to put right by her was a smart move on your part, LOL. I know you didn't.
And you snapped the shutter, that is a great Photographer.

Thanks on the photo, I just now read that.
Oh, and congrats.

Great shot Sid. There was something about your entry that impressed me & held my attention the longest. Well deserved win. Sorry to hear you can't compete in the next one...hahaha
Congrats to all the finalists. Looking back at the past challenges, you can see how everyone is improving.

Loved Sid's shot but Gubbsie yours did it for me--the detail, the shapes, the color, the mood--and oh so wide.
