http://bluetongue.smugmug.com/photos/47922340-M.jpggrey headed flying foxes fly over melbourne to feed at night-this shot shows why i need a strong flash-it was taken with onboard flash handheld with smc takumar 300/4-autolvels brought the bat up but with it heaps of noise-once i have a strong flash i should be able to get a better pic

While it is a bit soft and very noisy it is impressive that you captured it at all at night.

How do you focus and track it to shoot?

If it were me/I, it would be impressive that I stood my ground to shoot it: with a camera, too.

Nice holding, and I agree as to the "seeing".

i shoot from on top of a building-tracking is rather hit and miss as they are so dark in the viewfinder-my plan is to get a powerful flash and use red eye reduction to help my manual focussing-a gang of about 50 fly over each night to their feeding grounds-the wingspan is 1 meter,so they are an impressive size
