They are the king of medium format cameras. Wedding and portrait photogs love this. I know people who today still long to own one.

Silly me didn't realize you were pointing to a digital version of a Hasselblad! I thought they only made film cameras.

The rest took him seriously and visited a nearby photographic store in the space capital, Houston in Texas. There they bought a Hasselblad 500C with a standard Planar f/2.8, 80 mm lens. The camera was stripped down to reduce its weight and make it simple to operate. In fact so much was removed that it would be no exaggeration to say they created the world's most expensive box camera.

Don't worry about it, you probably just never shot medium format. Hasselblad never had a 35mm camera (that I know of).

Panoramic and regular 35mm rangefinder. Just as snooty as a Leica, but lesser used. If Leica was a BMW 7 series, the Xpan would be an Audi A8. So far as the H2D goes it is abeast no doubt, but you need an adapter to use the good glass. Since the little seen H1 Hasse has dissed Zeiss and abeded Fuji for glass production. Fuji makes nice glass, the GX series and Large format lenses with their EBC coation are super sharp and contrasty, but the devil is in the bokeh, and the 30+ year old C series Zeiss glass bokeh makes the fuji look like a Holga. Want creamy Zeiss Bokeh, you need an adapter, and lose auotfocus, too bad I'd rather have a Leaf.

The XpanII is definitely the Audi A8 of 35mm. You need "almost MF" lenses for it, but it produces a 24x65mm piece of film! It is surely one heck of a camera, and definitely my most coveted 35mm film body.

However, ironically the 1:3 ratio would be incredibly simple to achieve with a custom DSLR sensor. If you took a camera such as the D2X and squished it's sensor down a bit, then added a few more megapixels on the ends, you'd end up with a 16-20 megapixel image, from a standard 35mm lens. In fact if you had a 17mm lens and a sensor like this, it would be possible to even make it appear 15mm or 16mm instead!

Sorry to create such a big tangent, but I guess this IS along the lines of digital Hasselblad. Except, of course I'd like it to be a Nikon. It would be cheaper then. ;-)
