I bought the third party remote on ebay. works fine and is a lot cheaper than the canon version. I think the big difference between the one you referenced and the 20d is the connector from the cord to the camera.

I have been thinking how it actually works considering i paid equiv $15 USD for mine from china. I assume (i could well be wrong here) that it is a shorting device being that its not active & because really there is nothing to it. I will wait for mine to die & do an autopsy & report back.

It works well though.
