I don't think much of the 'solarize' effect. It's very yellow/floro green rather than I deep green I would expect.
Leaves have a great deal of detail and you have lost that.
It's an interesting subject and the composition is not bad.

Adrian why do you think he did solarization to it? It looks to me it is just in bright sunlight. If you see the part of the plant in the top center of the image, you can see the shadow areas and the sunny areas. Most of the shot you can see through the plant. Because of these things I don't think he did and effects to it, but I could be wrong.
I like the shot and how you got that close to see a pattern. It is amazing what you can find when you start looking really close at things we see everyday and sometimes take for granted.

I really like the whole florescent green.. it really reminds me of andy warhol and the whole pop art type thing.. fairly plain and simple, but has a lot of detail at the same time. I don't think it would have the same impact if the leaf was a deep dark more "natural" green.

I like the way you found a pattern in nature that looks almost like abstract art. Cool. I don't like the part of the leaf at the top that we see the top of. It's very distracting and pulls me out of the image, makes me stop and think "what's that? oh, it the TOP of the leaf".
