I am just curious if anyone is tinkering with a Thanksgiving theme yet? The Halloween theme is amazingly popular. I originally thought it would be mainly used for Halloween galleries... but much like people wanting to decorate their houses for the season, people apparently love decorating their smugmug page for the season too.

I hadn't seen mention of a Thanksgiving theme yet, so I figured if any of you are thinking about trying one... this might be a good one to attempt right now. :D

I have an idea for one but I have to get the other ones done first. There is always the problem of coaxing the images out of the mind...

Right now it's not a problem as there aren't many themes to pick from; however, over time I could see (and hope for!) a lot of themes that would end up becoming difficult to choose from within one pickbox.

I'm recomming that you plan for a future upgrade where themes are selected using a two-tiered pickbox (or solution of your choice), e.g.,

1st pickbox could be General, Holidays, Special Events, Sports, etc.

2nd pickbox would depend on 1st selection, e.g., for Holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

Regards,
Pat

Pat, that's a great idea. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm going to make sure that JT sees it.

We plan on doing that yes - but implementing it right now would only confuse people more :) But yes, eventually we will have to do something.

Perhaps a half size screen shots that shows the theme could load as a preview when you pick one.

There is a way to do this with javascript, on the same page - just wait until the next release :)

i have an idea of where you're going with this, but i think ultimately having thumbnails of a theme before test-applying will make the process of finding a theme even easier.

the drop down list just doesnt give enough of a description on what the theme looks like, especially when you start dealing with non-holiday/event themes.
