View Full Version : Printing non smugmug approved

Curious question. I realize that smugmug has certain rules as to what can be posted and hosted and so on and so forth. I respect these rules more than anything.
I am in a situation though and need some advice. What is too risque for smugmug?
Also... i did a shoot that required some rather risque stuff (not porn), very tasteful, and i need the model to be able to order prints.
I am open to suggestions and some help. Will making it a private password protected gallery be sufficient?
Thanks,
Steven

I have read the FAQ's on smugmug and just want to make sure before i load or not load. I don't want to get on smugmug's bad side... i love this place

Can I post porn?
smugmug needs to remain a safe place for families, so our nudity guidelines parallel family sites in the physical world, such as museums. The general guideline is, if your photo is considered art and could be found on public display in museums where minors visit, it is acceptable on smugmug. If, however, it would only be suited for adult sites, magazines, or R-rated movies, it is not acceptable at smugmug. Please refer to our terms of service (http://javascript<b></b>:window.open('/aboutus/terms.mg',%20'aboutus',%20'resizable=yes,scrollbar s=yes,toolbar=no,width=760,height=400');%20void('' );)
I will gladly provide an example to the higher ups for final ruling

That's a very good question... The answer I'd like to give is that artistic shots can be kept behind a password and EZ Prints will print them.
Something you'd see in a museum that would admit minors would certainly be okay.
The reason this question is so very hard to answer is we've found from experience that what I would think of as artistic is something different from what some would consider artistic. We've had customers become explosively angry with us when EZ Prints refused to print what fell inside their definition of artistic.
Which makes it so much easier for us to say no nudes.
However, we have lots of photos with exposed breasts that are behind a password that go through. We would probably yank them if they were public.
EZ Prints and I learned that we were the devil when we refused to let photos with aroused male organs being handled be classified as artistic. :wxwax

steven, it's fine. assuming that the other shots you'd put up there would be similar, then go ahead and put them in a pw-protected private gallery. baldy's caveats still apply.
thanks for checking :thumb
