I've got three major CATEGORIES that I use for my galleries, PEOPLE, PLACES and THINGS. When I click the Galleries link in my NAV bar I'd like to only see these three CATEGORIES on the linked page. I'd like the user to be able to click on each of these categories and it take them to another page showing the subcategories for the individual category they click. If you're still following, could you please point me in the right direction to make these change?

TIA

It looks like you have placed all of your galleries in the same category, "photography".

Start by assigning each gallery to your PEOPLE / PLACES / THINGS categories.
Change your site to display by Category instead of by Gallery.

See related help pages at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93306 and http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93317-arrange-galleries-on-your-homepage.

Next you will need to add some code to show a "galleries" page. See the sections titled "The Galleries" in the tutorial at http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/2160039. You will want to replace your navbar link that goes to your Photography category with the new "galleries" link.

OK, I'm almost there. I've now got all my galleries setup under one of the three categories, I've added the required code to show a galleries page but have putz'ed something up. When I click the GALLERIES link which is pointed to /Galleries in the NAVBAR it takes me to a blank page instead of listing the three separate categories.

Are your galleries hidden on your homepage? Go to your homepage settings and make sure the galleries are set to display.

That was it. Thank you so much Denise. One more quick question, is there a way to hide a category and it's subcategories? I've got a category, (OTHER) that holds site images and pages like the ABOUT page that I'd like to completely hide. This would leave ONLY the PEOPLE, PLACES and THINGS categories on the gallery page.

Go to the gallery settings page for all of the galleries in that category and set the galleries to unlisted instead of public. Unlisted galleries are only shown if you explicitly link to them.

A suggestion for your site...

You might want to switch your gallery display to show the thumbs above the gallery titles instead of side-by-side. That allows more galleries (or categories) to show across the screen. If you want to make that change, see # 10 in the ADVANCED Customization FAQ (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=52811).

HAHA, I think I need to take a break. I had already done that and was banging my head on the desk. Note to self, check VISITOR VIEW DUMMY!!!

Thanks again Denise,

Thanks again Denise,

You're very welcome Jason.

Instead of using visitor view I always have two browsers open - Firefox logged in, and Chrome or IE not logged in.
