Do you guys set up soft boxes (or any other lighting fixers) when you shoot weddings, or just use your speedlites?

Also, do you have any brand recommendations for softboxes?

A lot of people use umbrellas with speedlights. Some use smaller softboxes again set up for speedlights. I use an umbrellas but will ocassionally use softboxes and my studio lights with formals in the church.

I just use an umbrella (combo giving choice of reflected or shoot through) powered by either 1 or 2 speedlights. Fast and portable are the key elements for me.

Lastolite do nice speedlite soft boxes, I use one, but often use one or more speedlites bare if I need the full power.

I stick to speedlites and umbrellas at weddings. But, I've been breaking out the softbox and strobes more and more for engagement sessions and really like the results. If I have an assistant with me for the day, I may start to incorporate it in to my wedding reportoire.

Thanks for the responses!
Which umbrellas do you guys use? And do you have any brand recommendations?

I like cheap! For me they only last for a few shoots before the wind catches them and blows the stand over. FME the cheap ones can handle that 2 or 3 times before they bite the dust. I far prefer reflective over shoot through though. I like to use either silver lined or gold lined. Gold only for dusk give or take.

I use softboxes, umbrellas, beauty dishes, etc. I change it up by what mood I'm in, how much light I have, what I want it to look like, what will look best with the bride, etc.
