EDIT: Camera has been sold. Accessories will be moved to a new thread asap.

Having spent a couple of months with 20D I understood that I'm not going back to P&S.. Hence I decided to part with my beloved 828 aka The Dark Angel. That's the only reason - I don't want it to gather dust on the shelf, while I'm in a desperate need of canon glass.. It's in a perfect working condition, and even with the advent of R1 I think it would hold its grounds for a long time.

So, here it goes..

Famous Sony 828, modified by maxmax (http://www.maxmax.com/) for enhanced IR-photography ($350 labor + 2*$20 shipping = $390 value)

Here you can see the scratch-free mouth of the T-coated Carl Zeiss lens, complete with the petal hood, lens cap and a XNiteCC1 58mm filter ($76 value)

Front view assembled - check the premium Sony STP-SA Padded Camera Shoulder Strap ($19 value), modified with Quick Release carbines.

Back view - check out the Quick Release on the strap (I made it myself)

Strap Quick Release I personally installed is both reliable and elegant.

Closeup view of the LCD and the back: all surfaces are mint and scratch-free.

Front view: Pop-up flash

The only defect that I'm aware of: a small scratch on the bottom of the front part of the grip. I made it when setting the camera on the rocks in a swiveled position :-( Other than that I took a great care of my Dark Beauty...

Along with the camera come:

Three batteries. One Sony battery is in the camera, and you'll get two extras (estimated $30 value): one Sony, one replacement. All three are working fine.

Original box:

And the rest of the stuff: manuals, cables, CDs, warranty card - whatever was in the box.

Here is how the whole package looks:

PRICING
I could not find recently completed listings on eBay, but I'd say that asking $449 for non-IR modified original camera (no extras) is fair. Since IR mod and filter would cost you the same amount of money anyway if you need it, I'm asking another $399 for the mod and the xnitecc1 filter (instead of $466 that I paid), totalling the camera package at $848, with all the extras mentioned above, shipped free within Continental US (UPS). You pay paypal 3% fee if you choose this payment option.

EDIT: will consider trading for EF/EF-S glass, good tripod/head, 580EX and other canon gear
=============== SOLD SEPARATELY ================

Wow, Nik. I think you are undervaluing the camera - the cdn dollar is fairly close to the US dollar right now (86 cents or so) and new 828s are being sold for $899 here.

I haven't seriously used mine in ages, but just cannot bring myself to do this yet. I know of a few locals that would like mine - probably what is holding me up.

Good luck - it is a wonderful peice of gear.
