Here is my humble entry into the potrait world. She is my next door neighbors niece. I was taking a few photos of the baby shower and when I asked to take her photo, she said she wasn't very pretty and didn't take good photos. :dunno

I cropped this from a quick photo of her on the couch. She won't be back to the neighbors house for two weeksor so. I am hoping she likes this.

I hope so too. What a nice portrait. :clap So much personality. And she is a very pretty young woman. As I trust you will tell her! I love to capture the personality and energy of people who don't like to have their pictures taken. If I succeed, they are always thrilled. Even when they think they are not pretty.

Good work. Keep doing it!!

Nice portrait, she has great eyes, you should ask her if you can do a true series on her. Do you recall the EXIF, especially focal length? Seems a little wide (read < 50mm), but I have been wrong before. You are on to something, she definitely has 'the look'

XO,

Your good! this was an experiment for me. I was tring to use fill flash. TV 320 @ f4 32mm with the 580 EX. It would have been better with a longer lens, but I used what I had.

I think that is a very pretty girl Sam and a great capture on your part, I'm sure she'll love the picture. My only critique is the upper left of the frame. I think the shadow in it is distracting and think I see some kind of "haze" for lack of a better term on her hair in that corner. But I'm by no means good at portraits myself and am probably being too picky here.

Again, you guys have good eyes! Yes there is a little haze / distortion there due to masking and guasian blur on the background.

As for being picky..that's what we are here for. :): By being picky, and not being satisfied with an OK photo is how we progress.

I have found that non photographers are far less critical. :clap

Thanks for your input.
