Thanks for the link Andy. I read all the rules (in detail); ouch. Is this the norm for these types of contests? Also, I didn't see where you were giving up your copyright to the photo, you are just allowing them to use it in perpetuity for free. Did I miss something or can the photo also be sold by oneself? Not that I have any worthy shots, just wondering from those of you with more experience in these matters. They are asking for the original camera file as well as the entered file. So, do they retain the usage rights to the entered file and not the original camera file?

Even if I wanted to enter, I can't. I shoot in RAW most of the time and my original unmodified digital camera images are around 7.5 MB. :dunno

yeah, many of these contests allow themselves a lot of rights with your image. in this case, they're saying they can make a ton of $$$ with your image, as much as they can, in anyway they see fit :bluduh

here's the rub, if one cares:

[quote=rules]that Authorized Parties may use the entries in any media now or hereafter known, without restriction, including commercially using and exploiting the entries to fullest extent possible.

for most folks, not a big deal. but the reason i pointed it out is that many people enter these contests without a second thought to what they *may* be giving up....
