I always use the mouse that comes with the Intuos 3. Unfortunately... the damn thing keeps signalling to Windows (the tablet, not the mouse) it's been unplugged (windows sound) then 20-60 seconds later it responds again. I've tried updating the drivers to the latest version with no luck. The tablet is 4-5 years old. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had issues like this before I start tracking down Wacom support to see if I have to send it back for repairs..

anything electronic can go bad....things like hammers rarely ever go bad.......I think it really depends on how much you plug in windows and unplug or wiggle the wires and connections around......I have a Wacom Graphire that still works perfectly on XP...but I am not smart enuff to get it to work on Win 7 with Virtual Pc XP Mode ......so I bought a NEW VisTablet off Ebay for way under $100 and love it.......the actual working area is ~~6x10 and it is a dream to work with a larger than 4x6 working space of my old Graphire.......................

Could be MOBO, try another USB port?

I've run into this on Wacom tablets and Cintiq before. The tablet service needs to be restarted.

Go to Start->ControlPanel->Adminstartive Tools->Services and look for a service named TableDriverWacom. Do a right mouse button on it and click Restart. That may clear it up. Reboot should do it too, but it's a lot easier to just restart the service.
