Hi folks,

I have been giving a lot of thought to cropping and framing pictures recently. An example:

The first crop. I posted this in a thread here

I was going through the pics again and I did this:

Corrected photo, thanks Andrew:

If I go to this race next year I will use a 400mm lens to get this pic without having to crop so severely.

This is a long winded introduction to a discussion on cropping and/or framing sports pics. If you have examples post them.

A video from Sportsshooter. The second video is on shooting tight.

Nice crop, the photo looks much better as a result. Since doing football I've been learning the art of cropping. Shooting with a prime doesn't give me the luxury to crop in-camera with a zoom.

That's a great video to watch even if you don't shoot football. Well worth the time.

Shay,

I'm with Bill. Both are nice but your crop is a great example of taking a really nice shot and making it even nicer :thumb :thumb

Shay,

The only suggestion I would make to the cropped image would be to crop in a teensie weensie bit more to remove that light brown edge of the hay bale that my eye was immediately drawn to....

Andrew :)
