I will be taking a business trip during February out to New Mexico. During that trip, I'm taking one personal day to get some photography in. I'm interested in any suggestions that anyone has. I'll be starting my day in Albuquerque and ending it in Los Alamos -- definitely interested in sunrise/sunset spots in addition to neat things to see along the way.

Any and all help is appreciated here :D

What kinds of subjects to you enjoy? How much time do you have? Within 3 or 4 hours of Albuquerque, there is just so much to see and do. NM is one of my favorite places to go out west.

Coronado State Monument? (http://www.nmmonuments.org/)

Petroglyph National Monument (http://hubpages.com/hub/New-Mexico-Albuquerque-National-Monument-Petroglyphs-Amazing)

Don't miss Tent Rocks National Monument - Kashe Katuwe (http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/recreation/rio_puerco/kasha_katuwe_tent_rocks.html) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasha-Katuwe_Tent_Rocks_National_Monument

It's an easy day hike, about 600 vertical feet.

If you have time for lunch, go to the Rancho de Chimayo (http://www.yelp.com/biz/rancho-de-chimayo-restaurante-chimayo)

These are just a few of the places I have enjoyed in central New Mexico. You might run across a few pictures on NM in here

I am sure folks will add many more suggestions too.

Thanks for the information pathfinder :D

I'll be waking up in Albuquerque and going to sleep in Los Alamos that day and have the whole day to dedicate to photography and exploring the area.

I primarily shoot landscapes and cityscapes but do like to dabble in nature photography a bit, too.

I grew up in Los Alamos - there are a few nice links for what to do in Los Alamos:

If you are driving up the main road to Los Alamos, a nice photo op is at the Clinton P. Anderson overlook - the wide spot on the ride up the hill.

El Sanctuario De Chimayo is an interesting little place in Chimayo. Was just there in October.... Get lots of good Chilis/Chili powder there too! But I'm sure there is a ton of that all over NM, just happens we didn't go many planes but the casinos and Chimayo.

Thank you all for your recommendations! I had an excellent time in New Mexico and definitely enjoyed Rancho de Chimayo. You can see the images from my trip at this thread:
