My wife told me that a flock of pelicans were at the nature center.

But first, a green heron was standing on a stump on the way in. (back-lit)

This is about 1/8 of the flock. (I only had the Sigma 80-400os with me)

She (and the local news) were right.

Sometimes, a friend would join in.

On the way out, this guy was posing so nice I had to snap one.

That's a load of pelicans for sure! We must get the "left overs" or the "black sheep" here on the coast!

You got some nice shots, sometimes when so many birds are grouped together it's difficult to get a decent composition, but you managed quite well!

Nice! That is a lot of pelicans (a pack? a peck? :dunno )

I especially like the 2nd last shot.

Thanks guys.

Yes Andy, the D Reb 300 went over the 10,000 picture mark today.
I think back to 1981 when I bought a Canon AE1. I probably have shot 3000
pictures with that camera. I hear a lot of complaining that the digital SLR's
don't hold up. If the D Reb falls apart tomorrow, I think I got my money's
worth out of it.

Thanks again for looking.

Good captures Dave. I've seen our local pelicans do the same when they find a school of fish. Its an amazing sight and youc aptured it well. :thumb

Thanks Khaos.

My wife and I went back that evening, but most of the pelicans were gone.
Here's a shot of a few stragglers.
