what you all think of this shot? i tried to create an angle so the tree in the background looks like the leaves of the flower but still wanted the viewer to be able to see that they are very separate....

i tried to create an angle so the tree in the background looks like the leaves of the flower but still wanted the viewer to be able to see that they are very separate....I'd say you achieved that goal. It definitely made me do a double take. And there are really good elements to the shot - the colors are great. But even though I think you got where you were trying to go, something still seems lacking in the photo to me - but what it is I find hard to articulate. Perhaps it's that so much is out of focus in the shot. Or that in the way our eyes normally look at a photo, there's more distinction between in focus and out of focus areas instead of being woven together (the subject is in focus; here you have part of the subject out of focus). Perhaps the flower doesn't jump out of the shot enough, in terms of sharpness or color. Or maybe the shot is fine, but what you're trying to say is lost somehow.
