Here's a shot I thought worthy of posting from a recent trip to the Big Sur. It is truly majestic in a way that a camera has trouble capturing. If you have a chance I highly recommend the trip.

Big Sur is truly a special place. Back in the 60's, it was big with the hippies.
Parts of that are reflected in places like Nepanthe and the Big Sur Inn.
Regardless, the place is rather peaceful and has a number of great hikes
from which spectacular picture taking opportunity exist.

This shot shows a bit of the beach and unfortunately, not much else. But I
know what you mean about trying the capture a place like Big Sur. In some
ways, these places are a bit more spiritual.

Thanks for sharing and for the recommendation to visit such a special place.

I agree Ian. We drove through Big Sur on PCH this summer and we took in some great sites. We didn't really have time to enjoy the many excellent hikes and camping grounds in this area but took note of where we would want to come back to do so.

It still is, we saw Laurie Anderson do a reading/concert at the Henry Miller library while we were there. It was groovy man!

If you go back to go hiking be sure to visit Point Lobo, I saw crabs, cormorants, and a couple of 4-point buck it was incredible, here's just one of the views on the hike...

Point Lobos Marine Reserve rawks as a dive location! Been there a couple of times and
really enjoyed myself. What's so surprising is how clear the water is in the coves as
compared to the ocean...

Nice shot!

Thanks Ian. Yeah, I was blown away by the water, it looks more like the bahamas than California!
