Filenames! Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Yee-haa! My prayers (and user feedback suggestions) answered! It seems filenames and captions have now become two separate items on each image display page. :lust

Look down the bottom, next to "other sizes".

Not sure when this happened, but I don't remember it being there yesterday.

This means we now no longer have to choose between one or the other (or have to go to the trouble of embedding the filename into the caption... in hundreds of images!).

It sounds like such a simple thing, but for budding pros like me, its a really really big deal. Captions are crucial to selling pictures. But so are filenames. I needed both, separate, and now I've got them.

Thanks Smugmug. I feel even more justified now in telling people this is the best photo gallery service on earth.

Sorry but the file name is not individually alterable. What you do to it, you will also do to the rest of the text in the image information block (well you can style the comments part and the keywords part independently so they may not be affected).

well.....one must NOT...be ungrateful...for what one is given...and in this case, i have nothing but admiration and appreciation for everyone at smugmug who actually listened, moved, and corrected a rather large problem (at least for me) within the system.

i even sent an email to my contributing photographers saying that the work-aroound i gave them doesn't have to be done anymore, and that i was not used to developers reacting with such alacrity...!

thanks mike, thanks smugmug, and anyone else who chimed in, either before me or after me in your desire to have filenames with captions showing.

its a huge help, and now, more than ever, i feel like i really made a good move (what? me? apprehensive about setting up shop here...??? MOI?????) in porting my entire business over to smugmug.
