View Full Version : Gallery link (from share... Gallery links... gallery) missing photo identifier

Sometime in the last few days the gallery link has changed.

It used to include the photo identifier. Now when I pull the gallery link I get only the gallery info - so if I use it as is in an <a href= statement the viewer is no longer taken to the photo within the gallery.

Yes, I know, I can change the link - and I have been doing just that. But why? This used to work.

Gallery link pulled on September 26th includes the photo id and correctly positions on the selected photo:

Gallery link for the same photo pulled today does not include the photo id and positions at the beginning of the gallery, not what I wanted at all:

Please fix this!

When you want a specific photo link in SmugMug Style gallery, you'd grab it from the address bar of your browser:

When you want a gallery link, from Share>Get A Link - that link should go right to the gallery, and the first photo in the gallery. It wasn't set up properly in the past, sorry Denise.

...It wasn't set up properly in the past, sorry Denise.
Bummer. Ah, at least there is an east workaround.

But - this behavior has been there for years. I just checked the "How to match your blog..." thread, and in the second post in that thread I noted that I used the gallery link to get the link to the exact photo in the gallery. That post is dated July of 2008. I wonder how many others have been taking advantage of what you refer to as a defect in smug. And I didn't see anything in the release notes about this change; shouldn't there have been a notification about a change in behavior that has been in the product for years?

Denise, Sorry. EDIT -- My post was thinking about another bug. Andy was correct.
