Hi Angelo,
I really like the BW version. Personally I liked the volleyball net. Says something about the deserted beach. I agree with taking out the trash can though.
Whatever happened to sunny southern Cal?

Hi Angelo,
I like the B&W version best. Gives it a more moody tone...
david_h, that's what's known as a "marine layer" and is far too common in sunny SoCal especially in the mornings! It usually burns away by the afternoon, but not always.

Since you said you didn't try curves, I - with all due respect - tried some for you.
Here - LAB, both a/b curves simply steepened to almost exactly "/" character angle (symmetrical, both A and B):

It changed the mood a bit, brought more "sunset" rays, if you will...
I hope you don't mind me playing with your image..:rolleyes

Thanks David. I hadn't looked at the net in that way but now that you mention it I agree. This image deserves more attention and I'll give it my best. Thanks for looking and commenting.

I like the VB net too. hehheh, used to play about 25 hours a week and miss it so! Love your shots!
I look forward to it Ben
Living on the coast myself, I like the vegetation, the light tans, and the "fog" or mist on the hills, I think some of that gets lost in the B&W version.
It's a good shot, and well worth extra attention.

Thanks Chris... I think I can probably work both versions a bit for improvement. Thanks for visiting.

Nikolai - under the circumstances I don't mind at all. Thank you for taking time to help me improve this shot. You inspired me to try a few PS tricks but got sidetracked... I'll return to it shortly and see what I can accomplish.

niks touch up i like the sky but not the forground :dunno ...to do proper selection to separate skies from the beach.:):
Besides, I only wanted to show an idea of what could be done with LAB/curves, not to mangle with Angelo's picture..
Cheers, mate!:1drink

OK everyone... here's a new version that I don't intend to address your great suggestions... I'm still working on it... but I happened upon this effect almost by accident and thought it was worth sharing as a "pseudo" abstract (?)
Whatcha think???

I really did like this version, it grabbed my attention, but for the long run, I like Nikolai's version best.
Whenever I show a shot, Andy usually suggests curves a bit. I don't know how much Nikolai did, but I do like his results.
Wonderful shot, Angelo!
