View Full Version : On the level

So, I shot a pano this weekend an murdered it because of two things:

1. The camera was level, but the tripod was not, panning the camera caused a wavy horizon (I had a pocket level from the hw store, but it just didn't cut it).

2. Forgot to manual white balance, Doh!

Anyhow, I am now trying to find affordable options for the following things:

1. A bubble level for the tripod (between head and tripod). I've thought about the Manfrotto 3502, but can't decide if its overkill.

2. A plate where I can mount the camera to the tripod so that the axis of rotation is the lens, not the camera body.

TIA

Heh, I could, but its ugly and has a Pano Factory watermark on it because I'm not 100% sold on the software I want to use yet. If I go through and match the white balance, it will probably look ok, but I'm pressed for time today.

Check out www.reallyrightstuff.com (http://reallyrightstuff.com) for a pano plate.

You can find a small bubble level that fits in hotshoe or if you go to RRS,
one that's in the adapter plate.

Just for tripod leveling, I have a perfect flat spot at the top of the legs on my tripod about 1x1" does anybody know where I can get a little stick-on circular bubble level about that size?

You might try an auto parts store. 4WD place might be better. Alternatively,
a decent hardware store will have a short level you could place on the plate.
