That's a great shot. I wouldn't do anything with it but frame it and hang it on my wall.

Anyone?? First of all, nice shot :thumb. I took a look at the original and played with it a bit. I think you have done a pretty good job in post. I can't think of a quick and easy way of improving it, though I am far from a PS expert.

I think what you need is a really accurate mask to separate the sky from the rest. I was able to tweak the curves so as to bring out the detail in the trees and foreground--which I think are too dark--but doing so screwed up the nice shafts of light in the sky. I confess that I am too lazy to try to create the needed mask. :D

Hopefully someone more skilled than I will jump in with a better solution.

Cheers,

Hey thanks for the compliments:rolleyes As you could see I did a lot of post but thought it might benefit from more. I am a real novice at PS and can only do so much , most of it based of actual darkroom work, dodging and burning.

Usung lighten and darken ect gave me the same problem of losing the rays or losing the pop of the forground. If I knew more about layers i think that might help, but those trees are a pain to lasso.

Guess I might do as suggested and blow it up big and hang it.

Thanks for the comments

This is an absolute beauty of a shot. The clouds and sun peaking through are
very nice. If I were to do anything in post, it would be to punch up the colors
to emphasize the sunlight coming through the clouds. The clouds look level but
for some reason, the ground does not. Like it's right side high. The trees
have a sort of tilted look to them. Not much though.

Lovely shot - I suspect that this shot will respond nicely to a slight steepening the a and b curves in the LAB color space. But very nice as it is.
