I believe what ya got there is a Red Shoulder Hawk. I wish it was an Eagle cause I'd be in my car right now on the way down there :D
Although I could be wrong, I kinda hope I am, cause I could use an excuse to go shoot San Diego Area :D

This looks like a redtail hawk to me :dunno Beautiful birds and lots of fun to watch and shoot. Man he was flyin' high if he was circling around over Julian. I remember that as being "snow country" :wink

The bad news is that it isn't an eagle. The good news is that it is a good shot of a hawk and it still counts as a raptor shot. :thumb

it is a red tail and my guess is a young one by the color you did get he does not have a lot of red in the tail yet:thumb
