MACKINAW CITY, Mich. A major fire has heavily damaged a restaurant and museum in Mackinaw City.

Yesterday's fire took 100 firefighters two hours to douse.

The employees inside the structure escaped without injury.

The building housed Mama Mia's restaurant and a museum dedicated to the nearby Mackinac Bridge.

So far, there's no word on what caused the blaze.

This was one of my favorite pizza places up there, Looks like I won't be introducing it to Glu this trip. They were always busy so they will prolly rebuild but alot of irreplaceable artifacts from the mackinac bridge building have been lost. Pictures of the burned out building or newly/being reconstructed one will follow our trip.

Mate i feel sorry for you. A good pizza joint is up there with a good curry house. So many people theses days just eat those circles of cardboard dripping in grease that the chains flog.

Gus

ps...we have several good pizza joints here for when the need arises.

Uh oh, one less place to eat, I may have to re-consider the trip now :scratch.
J/K I hate loosing a favorite restaurant, it is something that just can't be replaced (Plus the museum, that is really terrible). One of my favorite Italian Beef places moved it's location a couple years ago and the food has never been the same.

No worries there are plenty of other good places, even one other good pizza place. But with the musuem and all this place was really super famous. It even made the 6 o'clock news down here 4 hours away. It really was an institution. I hope they will rebuild but it will still prolly never be the same.
