View Full Version : SmugMug Price List Spreadsheet

Howdy,
For anyone that's interested, I have created a spreadsheet with all of the SmugMug products and pricing in it. I'm using it as an offline price list as well as to work out prices and margins before updating them on the Smug interface. I've also included some other automatic calculations like image size ratios, etc.
If anyone would like a copy (to save you the time of typing it up yourself) let me know and I'll figure out a way to get it to you. :thumb

Now that I've posted it to my site, I thought I'd add the link up here on the first post so it's easier to find.

I'd love a copy of that spreadsheet. If it's Excel, you can email it.

I'd love a copy too.
Do you have a dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com/) account? The free account would work for this. That would be a good place to stash the spreadsheet.
Thanks.

Hey Guys,
Glad to see there's a few of you that would like it. I think I'll put it up on a web page for easy download, save emailing it out separately. That way you'll be able to pick if you want the Excel or iWork versions.
I've got a couple of shoots on today but will put it up later on tonight or first thing in the morning and then post the link here.
Thanks for showing an interest :)

I'm definitely interested - I was just thinking what a pain in the butt it was going to be to do up a printed price list... Thanks for offering to share your hard work :thumb

Howdy guys, Sorry for the delay. I wanted to run it past the SmugMug team first to make sure they didn't have any issues with me giving away this info but they haven't responded. I figure if it's not a clear NO then it must be a YES so here's the link.

Thanks for the spreadsheet! This saved me hours of work. I put everything in spreadsheets, but haven't gotten around to this one yet - still working on my site.

Oh bless you for this. I had just asked the heros if something like this existed and they said "no". I was dreading trying to create one!! You have made my day!

Thank you for posting this spreadsheet! It is extremely helpful and exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I could imaging better is a "Export pricing to spreadsheet" feature on SM, so I don't have to manually enter my custom prices. :)
I just have one nitpicky correction to make in the spreadsheet. The way it is, the Markup columns are off by 100%. For example, if you put your sale price for a 4x6 Lustre at EZ Prints as $0.21, it reports the markup as 100%. If you put the price s $0.42, it reports the markup as 200%. They should be 0% and 100% respectively.
The solution is pretty easy. Just change this formula:
=(H2/G2)
to:
=IF(H2=0,0,(H2/G2)-1)
Thanks again for making this spreadsheet!

Okay, I just got to playing with this a bit more, and I took the liberty of adding columns that calculate your profit if you offer coupons (increments of 5% from 5%-30% off). It shows up in (red) if your profit ends up in the negative due to the coupon.
Here's a direct link to the Excel file:

This is awesome. Now I need to go and perform some unpleasant task (like the one you did making this spreadsheet) for us all and share it with everyone. It's good to give back a bit!

I have one quick question...
What is the markup correction if I select Color correct all my images under Bay Photo?
Thanks again!

Thanks much JC. I downloaded it but haven't been able to find the time to open because I'm spending too much time on your site, reading about your film life experiences and some excellent shots. My nephew is a director in Canada so I understand.

I was using your price sheet when I realized that it doesn't have a way to account for the color correction service through bay photo. Do you have any idea how to enable that? I have been looking at some things, and it doesn't seem as thought they use a fixed percentage for the markup. This will be a hassle if we have to input all the prices, but if you find out that it is indeed a specific price for the color correction based on what you are printing, I would love to work with you and fill in the new prices.

Hey there folks!
I was really happy to find this thread and quickly reminded of how under appreciated DGrin is in my life. Everytime I come here, I ask myself why I don't come more often!
That said - Thank you, in advance for the spreadsheet with pricing....Is there any chance you have this updated with current pricing. The spreadsheet has Bay Photo 4 x 6 lustre for $.25 and it is now $.38. Puts price increases in perspective but I would love to have a new copy!
My email is: bf@brandifitzgerald.com should you want to send it over.
I'd be happy to trade a piece print of my artwork for your time!
Hope you had a great day!

Is it me and my terrible excel skills? When I open the spreadsheet and make changes to the spreadsheet, the fields in that row don't update to reflect the prices. I am using Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac. I also saved the file and uploaded it to Google docs but it's still not showing me the prices when I put in a percentage. Hmmmmm....I am so much better at html and css than excel :)
Thanks in advance spreadsheet heros!
