I would like to have one of my very short SM-hosted videos run on my homepage without the player controls. It should autostart and loop - is there a way to do this?

Here is our wiki page which lists all the controls you can do with the video embed code:

I hope this helps.

Tristen, that is a big help. I see the document hasn't been updated since Feb - is there possibly also a flashvar for looping the video?

I don't believe there is anything additional to what is on that page at this time.

Tristan, I'm a bit confused by this part of the FAQ:
"Note that "gobbledegook" stands for whatever code shows in that place in your embed - it's different for each video."
Where does "gobbledegook" come from? The article seems to indicate it is in the flashvars section of the embed code, but I've never seen or used that in my embed.
PS: I am wanting to modify the player for playing a SmugMug hosted video, not necessarily one that is hosted externally.

That code is only for embedding a video elsewhere. There is not a way to modify these settings for the video within a gallery on SmugMug, only for embedding.
If you use the Share button and get the embed code for one of your videos, you will see from that what needs to be modified by comparing what the system gives you to what you see in the FAQ.

Thanks for the additional followup Tristan. It seems a bit odd to me that we can control the SM player for use on other sites, but not for use on SM. I saw one post here where one SMer installed JW Player on his own server, then RSS'd his SM video to that player, then embedded that player on his SM home page. A bit extreme me thinks. He did this so he had some control over the player.
I too would like some control over the player. My needs seem simple but I've been working days trying to come up with a workable solution. I want to autostart and loop a simple 30 second promotional video. The only other requirement I have is to hide the player's controls. This is sort of the video equivalent of the homepage photo slideshow. I would prefer to have the video hosted on SM, but currently I am using an external hosting service and embedding their player here. If I am missing how to do this with the SM player, please advise.
Tristan, thanks again for your help.

Yes, embedding a video into your SmugMug site would be one workaround for this.
We appreciate your suggestion and I encourage you to also leave it here where it can be better tracked:
