What's wrong?

I made this shot for challenge #45 (Dry) (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=16188), but it even hasn't been chosen to final (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=17176). Why??? What's wrong with it? Whether this shot (http://www.deegolden.smugmug.com/photos/32877087-M.jpg) better? Or this (http://fahner.smugmug.com/photos/32250696-L.jpg)?

Any critique would be appretiated.

there were two leaf photos, and both ed hughes and i preferred the trio submitted by dee golden. imo, your leaf didn't convey "dry" enough for me. technically, it's well exposed, focused, and processed. but on the whole, the other shots were more interesting to the judges.

Dimm, there was nothing wrong with the shot at all. I leaned toward the three leaves for only two reasons, they were curved a bit more really showing that they were dry and I really liked the shadow in Dee's shot.
