I thought your subject line was the set up for a joke, like "This guy walks into a bar..."
This guy needs to be working for NASA. Naw............He'd have all the problems solved from his garage, and then what would NASA do with the 10 or 20 billion $$ saved?

That is a crazy set up he has. I guess it shows what some knowledge, ingenuity and free time can accomplish.
