Just thought I share a panoramic of Crater Lake. What an amazing place. I don't think this does it justice but it at least gives a sense of the place.

Nice shot. Looks like a neat place to visit. I'm curious if you used any filters or did any boosting/tweaking in PP/PS ? I've seen lots of different water in my days...but nothing that blue. It doesn't look "real". Amazing blue water. :thumb

I did have a circular polarizer on when I took the shot but the water really *IS* that blue. The lake is actually a caldera that was formed thousands of years ago after the mountain erupted. The top caved in and was filled with glacier melt and rain. The water is so pure that all of the sunlight goes through it and is absorbed except blue...(think reason for blue skies).

I think that's what makes this place so neat...it just looks like it can't be real.

No photoshop tricks with colors here...just stitching of several frames (eight!) to get the wide angle panorama. I used the photostitch with perspective correction to get the frames put together.

Crater Lake is one of the most beautiful and pristine lakes in North America.

A boat ride around the lake is really something special.

Here are a couple more shots. The first one shows the boat Ian was talking about (it's the tiny white streak off to the right).

This last one shows what's called the "Phantom Ship". It's actually a volcanic rock formation. It's hard to maintain a sense of scale here though. The water is about a mile down from this vantage point. The "ship" is actually quite large (about as tall as a 16-story building).
