At this point, I'm basically clueless and would like some help... thanks in advance.
Here's what I want: When a costumer types in uberphotos.com I want them to be directed to my Smugmug page. ..uberphotos.Smugmug.com
what I've done:
The only thing I heve done (beside start my site here) was purchase the domain name through aplus.net. I went through Smugmug's help section on Custom hostnames...tried to use those directions adapted for aplus.net and found out that since I purchased my domain name through Aplus.net that I have to email/call to request a cname record. I called and explained what I want to do and he said I needed Smugmug's Name Server. I told him, www.SMugmug.com (http://www.SMugmug.com) and he said that was the website, not the name server. He also mentioned something about having to purchase DNS something for $6/year
I'm not sure what to do next... any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like they're trying to set you up with an A record instead of a CNAME, or trying to get it so that smugmug is hosting your domain. Setting up a CNAME record should not require anything more than the URL of the site you want your domain to point to.

*cough* www.joker.com *cough*

Step by step instructions and everything can be done in the control panel on joker.com.

Maybe I'm partial or maybe I just don't like to hear people having such a difficult time.

Check on this page for hints on how to set it up with four different vendors.

http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts

My host was not listed either; however, by reading all four tutorials, and then working with my vendor it made sense. It has been 8 months so I can not offer any more complete guidance than that.

I got it fixed...I ended up having to purchase a DNS service from them....I was then able to set up the cname...and had to wait about 48 hours for it to propagate (?)...next step...I want users to be able to type in both www.uberphotos.com (http://www.uberphotos.com) and uberphotos.com to access the site...but that is being discussed in various spots already.
